Introductory session for the e-learning course "How can trade contribute to sustainable development?”

18 sept. 2026 - 14:30

Interested in how trade shapes our world?

From global value chains to economic transformation, trade plays a central role in shaping our economies and societies. But how can we make sense of its impact, and of its potential to support sustainable development?

The e-learning module “How can trade contribute to sustainable development?”, directed by Professor Christine Kaddous, invites you to explore the connections between international trade, the global economy and sustainable development. Through an interdisciplinary approach, you will gain the knowledge and perspectives needed to understand some of the key economic challenges facing our world today.

What will you explore?

  • Explore how trade can drive positive change, from protecting the environment and strengthening labour standards to promoting public health.
  • Identify the key players shaping global trade and examine the governance challenges at the intersection of trade, the environment, labour and health.
  • Develop the knowledge and practical skills needed to design policies that support a more sustainable and inclusive economy.
  • Challenge perspectives and engage in debate by presenting, discussing and analysing these issues from different angles.

Designed for flexible learning, the e-learning module allows you to explore these issues at your own pace while developing knowledge that can enrich your studies and support your future career.
