Thomas Kadner Graziano

Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Geneva


Thomas Kadner Graziano pursued his legal studies at the Universities of Frankfurt and Geneva and language studies and comparative law at the Universities of Salamanca, Strasbourg, London and Trento. He did his PhD in Law at the Goethe- Universität of Frankfurt and an LLM in Harvard University. Professor Kadner spent a year at the Jean Moulin University (Lyon, France) taking part in the programme on “Common Principles of European Private Law”.

He is a Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Geneva and the director of the programme on transnational law (CDT); a fellow of the European Centre of Tort and Insurance Law (ECTIL), Vienna; a member of the Swiss delegation to The Hague Conference on Private International Law; and a member of the Working Group on International Contracts, Hague Conference on Private International Law.

Professor Kadner has taught private law, international private law and comparative law at the Humboldt University of Berlin (1994-2000), at the University of Florida at Gainsville (1996), at the University of Potsdam (1997) and at the University of Geneva (since 2001). He has been a member of the DUKE- Geneva Institute in Transnational Law (2004, 2010); a visiting Professor at the University of Poitiers (2006), at the University of Florida (2006, 2007-08, 2008 and 2010), at the University of Exeter (2007-08), and at the Universities of Vytautas Magnus, Kaunas (2009 and 2013) and Mykolas Romeris, Vilnius (2014, both in Lithuania.
